Between the Devil

Well this past weekend did not go exactly as I thought it would, for multiple reasons. First off, on the 3 LARP games this weekend there was a change of power structure in all 3 games. In Vampire the prince ran off (go Le Teur) leaving the seat vacant, in which a Nosferatu Ordo Dracul  named Ernie took the position. In Mage the Hierarch stepped down and returned back to England, leaving Mai, a spirit mage played by Dan took the position by democratic process. In Changeling, the Autumn court changed representatives in the absence of the Autumn King through a travesty of democracy. It in unprecedented for all 3 venues to have a shift in power in the same weekend so yay for a first.

My lunch date with Brandon was canceled due to Brandon not feeling well. I choose to take this excuse at face value since we are in the “go out and talk and get to know you” phase of things. I don’t think someone would try to make excuses this early on if it was a simple matter of not wanting to spend any time with me. One would just say at this point “You know I don’t see this going anywhere so let’s just save the time and money.” At least that is how I think, which doesn’t mean it’s necessarily true.  He could be trying to dodge me but I don’t get that particular vibe.

Currently DJing at the 5 star and it is dead…maybe 4 people total in the bar. I hope it will pick up, I could use the cash and Jay could use the business. Despite this lack of business I feel my week long funk lifting and starting to feel a bit of normal again. There is a couple of things that are currently not fixable due to circumstance. Mainly it is just one thing.

I really miss Arthur.

No matter what was going on in either of our lives we managed to put it in the back of our minds with a combination of travel, irresponsible behavior, and silly hats. We were a team devoted to the spread of depravity and witty banter. We functioned on a thought pattern that those lesser folk we hung out with could not even begin to comprehend. We try to make due with what we have ( conversations over phone and internet) but it is not quite the same. It is like the other half of my brain is on the other side of the country and I can’t access the thoughts I need to function.

So Arthur I say to you…

You go get ‘em, Sheriff! Go get your ghost! Them ghosts is gonna crawl right up in your h-e-e-e-ead! You found yourself into something you ain’t never getting out of! We’ll get ya! We’ll… get ya! We’ll get ya! You’re dead, Sheriff! You’re dead! I’ll see you in fucking hell! HAHAHAHA!

I miss you.

Vampires and Keebler Elves.

Tonight was a Camarilla game night. For the uninformed that means LARP (Live Action Role Playing).  No we do not go out into the forest and throw tennis balls at each other. Tonight was Vampire: The Requiem, a game where you take on the role of an undead bloodsucking monster with a penchant for backstabby politics and long winded plotting…like high school with fangs.  In this game I take on the role of one Madam Le Teur, a voodoo priestess with a knack for medicine. My day from 7pm to midnight consists of playing this role. Let me tell you that as fun as it is…very taxing. We play at UNR which has those light fixtures that give me a headache. On top of which being part of what is essentially a 5 hour improv session takes a lot of energy out of you. Tomorrow (Saturday) I get to do it from 3pm-midnight with 2 different games.  Now I could go on and tell you about all the little game stuff that happened but that doesn’t really make for good reading unless you are a fan of LARP, and if so you were probably already there tonight.

Prior to game I was online getting some photo’s up on 5 Star’s Myspace page from Halloween this year. While doing so I was chatting with two people whom I don’t normally speak with Brian from Sacramento and Kenny who currently lives in Hawaii. Brian is perhaps the more even tempered of Sacramento friends I have current and prior. He certainly is not a drugged out failure or a neurotic non-person. I probably don’t speak to him as much as I should but since his life is not a churning pot of dramatic bullshit there really isn’t much for us to talk about beyond small talk and catch up time. Kenny on the other hand is difficult to speak with…more so since he returned from Ireland for a trip. When he is spineless he is mopey and when he grows a pair he is an ass. Very much a person who thinks in black/white terms and so deep in the closet that he found Narnia (thank you Nate). Today he was on his “I love Hawaii because I get dates” kick. After a few rounds of this kind of talk I logged off. I really don’t care about this bitchy Keebler Elf’s triumphs against the fairer sex in an attempt to lie to himself.

Hmm…I want cookies.
